Automation and Control are important aspects of modern
manufacturing. It is essential to equip prospective engineer in this field with
appropriate theorical and practical knowledge. The collaboration between
Chulalongkorn University and FACTORI 4.0-Erasmus+ aims to properly prepare
graduates’ skills on automation in processing and manufacturing system. Two
selected courses at Chulalongkorn University are Industrial Automation, B.Eng.
(Electrical Engineering), and Instrumentation and Chemical Process, M.Eng.
(Chemical Engineering).

Accreditation & Process:

Department of Electrical Engineering and Department of Chemical
Engineering commit to meeting accreditation standards results in a higher level
of performance and a greater focus on graduates’ preparation. To ensure that
both courses demonstrate their ability to meet official regulatory requirements
and standards in Automation and Control, both courses are modified. Industrial
Automation course has added Discrete Control, Programmable Logic Control, and Network
and Connection Module. Instrumentation and Chemical Process has added Programmable
Logic Controller. Industrial Automation, B.Eng. (Electrical Engineering) and
Instrumentation and Chemical Process, M.Eng. (Chemical Engineering) are
accredited by Council of Engineers Thailand.

Pilot Project & Results:

On April 8, 22, and 29, 2021, Professors from Universit<![if !msEquation]>

<![endif]> Grenable Alpes, France, and University of
Ruse, Bulgaria, provided training module: PLC for sequential control of
processes in automation to improve students and staff experiences in the field
of automation and control via application Zoom from 3:00-5:00 pm (Thailand
Time).

Intelligent Control Automation of Process Systems Research Unit
(ICAPS):

Students will use their existing knowledge of engineering theory
and practice to build new skills using Programmable Logic Controllers in the
Intelligent Control Automation of Process Systems Research Unit (ICAPS).
Students will also be able to design, plan, and manage highly complex systems
to extend their skills across essential areas in the field of automation and
control.
