Center of Excellence in Particle and Material Processing Technology

The Chemical Engineering Department offers an integrated curriculum of course work and research in the area of Particle Technology and Material Processing (PTMP). PTMP Lab aims at generating new knowledge and training innovative researchers as well as carrying out R&D on Particle Technology and Material Processing to promote its applications in the diverse industries: chemical, mining, ceramic, cement, metallurgical, food, agricultural, pharmaceutical, medical, biological etc. PTMP Lab has received substantial research grants from Thailand Research Fund, MTEC, NECTEC and so on. PTMP Lab and Thai Powder Technology Center (TPTC) have co-organized various workshops, training courses and have collaborated with the industrial sector and/or external/internal organizations, both foreign and domestic, in implementing research and development projects. In December 2000 TPTC and the Society of Powder Technology Japan joinly organized the first Asian Particle Technology Symposium in Bangkok, in which 298 participants from 20 countries around the world participated and presented 231 papers. In 1998 Dr.Wiwut become the first engineering faculty member of the University to win the prestigions Science and Technology Award bestowed by Thailand Toray Science Foundation, and his advisee Dr.Sirikalaya Suvachittanont in the first Doctoral graduate in chemical engineering produced in Thailand. Currently, 4 doctoral and 27 masters students are pursuing their research in Particle Technology.
